Windows 11 2024 update begins rolling out today

Starting today, the Windows 11, version 24H2 update begins to roll out to Windows 11 customers. This update includes new features like Energy Saver designed to extend battery life and reduce energy use, even when your device is plugged in.

We are thrilled to announce :

  • Improved Hearing Aid support with Bluetooth LE Audio, with new capabilities to control audio presets, ambient sounds and experience enhancements.
  • We are also introducing Wi-Fi 7 compatibility, offering unprecedented connectivity speed, reliability and efficiency.
  • Windows 11, version 24H2 also offers HDR background support.
  • We have also made significant improvements to the taskbar and system tray,
  • File Explorer and Settings to make it even easier and more intuitive to do the things you want on your Windows PC.

    Are you sure it is 24H2? In Windows Update, I see "2024-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Versions 23H2". What I also see the system string to install an update last night followed by a a bug check, then a bunch of errors, more bug checks, and now I'm getting errors that OneDrive files are not Windows files or have an error. Trying to apply the 23H2 Cumulative Update in the hopes that I don't have to restore my machine (would be the 2nd time in 5 days).

    Are you using Beta Channel? It's the only channel still in the 23H2.

    Not that I'm aware of. I reset my Surface Laptop 5 on Thursday and had the system use the cloud image (vs local image). Ran check for updates after reset and everything was working fine until this morning. My guess is that it just didn't get to 23H2 yet and the system tried to autoupdate that last night and failed, leaving my system in a bad state. Sounds like it is unrelated to 24H2.

    My system trying to download 24H2 from the Windows update. After installing 24h2, I will update it here..

    Windows 11 24H2 build no 26100.1742 is directly from the top of 23H2 build no 22631.4249. The update is a too fast, and seamless update, After downloading from Windows Update, installation finished within 45 minutes

    I went to the link from the Insiders post and downloaded the .iso file.

    Two desktops now installed, but one failed the first time with allowing check for updates. The install completed when I did not allow checking for updates.

    The system that failed initially, also failed to install KB5043178, after the install was complete.
