"Show taskbar buttons on: All Taskbars" setting keeps resetting on sleep

I have 2 monitors, and I want to keep my full taskbar persistently-visible on both of them. This was working fine until about a week ago. Now, it behaves as though "Main taskbar and taskbar where window is open" is selected even though "All taskbars" is still selected, until I toggle the setting myself.

My workaround is manually setting it to "Main taskbar and taskbar where window is open," then back to "All taskbars." This fixes the issue until the next time my PC sleeps.

I have tried resetting my PC and I have tried SFC /scannow as an admin in case of settings file corruption. Neither have resolved the issue.

Taskbar Settings

Lock the taskbar | ON

Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode | OFF

Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode | OFF

Use small taskbar buttons | OFF

Use Peek to preview the desktop when you move your mouse to the Show desktop button at the end of the taskbar | OFF

Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu when I right-click the start button or press Windows key+X | ON

Show badges on taskbar buttons | ON

Taskbar location on screen | Bottom

Combine taskbar buttons | Always, hide labels

MULTIPLE DISPLAYS

Show taskbar on all displays | ON

Show taskbar buttons on | All taskbars

Combine buttons on other taskbars | Always, hide labels

    Thanks for the clarification.

    We noticed that the original description mentioned "reset".

    Does it mean a reset with some data retained? Or a reinstall that wipes all data?

    Besides, does the behavior remain the same under a new user profile?

    We are not sure whether the driver cache data is related to this type of problem.

    But if possible, clearing the driver cache data is a common step to narrow the scope of the problem analysis.

    For example, you can perform a clean install of the graphics driver.

    • The user interface of the NVIDIA site that was once used to obtain specific versions of drivers has been updated. Please access the official website of the device manufacturer (such as the official website of the motherboard) in advance to obtain a specific version of the driver program.

    Hi,

    I can confirm the workaround using News and Interests widget in taskbar, so far.

    I will upgrade the video driver and disable the widget and post back.

    In my original post, when I said "reset" I just meant that the problem persists after I restart my PC or shut down and then boot it back up.

    When visiting the NVIDIA site directly, I did find a newer driver version, below:

    Driver: GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

    GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL Driver Version: 565.90 - Release Date: Tue Oct 01, 2024

    which I have now installed. I have been using the "News Widget Workaround" others mentioned in the thread, which has been working for me. Now that I've updated, I will disable the widget and restart. If the issue happens again after that point, which I suspect it will, I will try making another user profile and then follow up again.

    Running into a variation of this issue, if a new monitor is connected. The new monitor always appears to be set to "Taskbar where window is open" instead of propagating the "All Taskbars" setting. Changing the "Show Taskbar buttons on" to a different value and then back fixes the issue. I have to swap HDMI ports to use a VR headset so II have to do this VERY often and it's getting frustrating.

    Driver update directly from NVIDIA website did NOT fix the issue. After restarting with the News setting turned off, I am back to having my bugged taskbar on the second monitor.
