Hello,

My PC crashed frequently due to a faulty memory stick. When I used a new memory stick, the problem didn't occurred anymore. Unfortunately, the crash also occurred during the windows update after the in-place upgrade. Until now, I have been unable to download and install two important updates -- the latest cumulative update and the update from August. (Two error codes (0x80070643 and 0x800f0805) appeared alternately)

I just tried Windows update troubleshooter and get a diagnosis --

WaaSMedicService

Issue found by :WinRETargetingPlugin

Problem with BITS service : The requested service has already been started. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182

    I want to exclude corrupted drivers, corrupted registry entries and components that cause Windows update issues from system image backup, and only keep files, programs, settings, drivers, normal registry entries, components that makes the OS work etc. How can I do this in Macrium Reflect?

    Could you provide me detailed steps of your solution?(replace the DRIVERS hive by extracting a fresh copy from the ISO and running Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove NVIDIA drivers" )

    There is the built-in System Image Backup (via Control Panel → Backup and Restore (Windows 7) → "Create a system image") to completely backup the OS, System, and the Recovery partitions.

    However, the System Image Backup tool is deprecated, and Microsoft recommends using a third-party tool for image-based backups. "Macrium Reflect" (Trial is available) is my preferred option. An image-based backup completely backs up the chosen partition, so you can revert to the original configuration later if needed. Look for the "Macrium Reflect backup" tutorials on the web. There are lots of guides available.

    Macrium Reflect has an option to create a Rescue media. It can be used to restore the backed up image offline.

    The printer drivers are not causing the problem.

    The only option I can think of is to replace the DRIVERS hive by extracting a fresh copy from the ISO and running Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove NVIDIA drivers. However, you must take a complete OS image backup beforehand.

    Please provide me detailed steps of the solution. Thanks!

    Before creating a complete OS image backup, I've some questions to ask you --

    1.What's the approximate success rate of this method in solving the problem? How likely is this method to cause system problems?

    2.Can I save the complete OS image backup in my PC's local disk? If so, if there is a problem with my system and it cannot be used normally, is USB drive available for performing a OS image recovery?

    3.I've no any disks, I wrote the image of Kaspersky Rescue Disk 18 to my USB drive(https://support.kaspersky.com/us/krd18/howto/14226#block2) about three years ago, after scanning my PC, I was unable to return my usb's storage to normal, even after formatting, I was also unable to restore the free space to normal values.

    Do you have any solution to the problem?

    1. How can I recover the OS image if I don't have a available USB?
