Hello

I never had any problems with my PC .

Windows 11, version 24H2 update is ready to install, I approve the restart, it starts working, stops at 68% for 5 minutes, then restarts and turns off PC. When I booth back, it simply wants to download it and install it again.

Troubleshooter shows Error but offers no solution.

I have downloaded the ISO and followed all instructions, but 26% in, the installer just stops all goes back to windows and says Windows 11 instalation failed.

Any ideas?

I installed the big 24H2 update on my computer (HP 470 G9 laptop, Windows 11 Pro).

It failed several times at first, when I tried to install it in several different ways!

    Here are the different steps:

    1) It originally appeared for download on Windows Update on Nov 22. I tried to download it 2 times – the download always stopped at 8%

    2) It appeared again on Windows Update on Dec 15. Now the download and installation proceeded to the end – but then the installer started automatically undoing the changes made to the computer --> reverted back to v. 23H2

    3) I then tried installing from the ISO file --> failed (for some reason it reported a problem with the installation language (?) --> could not select the option at all: “Keep my files and apps”

**4) The update finally went well and without any problems with this method:**💻👍👍

    Windows 11 Installation Assistant

I would like to emphasize that this is one of the three official installation methods recommended by Microsoft!

Microsoft: This is the best option for installing Windows 11 on the device you’re currently using.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11/

Note! It is important to note that in order to proceed the installation process, everyone must first pass the WindowsPCHealthCheck (which can be launched from the link at the top of the downloaded Windows 11 Installation Assistant -application window)

After I successfully👍👍updated my computer to version 24H2 using Windows 11 Installation Assistant on Dec 15 --> 2 quality updates and 17 driver updates (quite a lot)😮🤔came next to Windows Update (SCREENSHOT).

SUMMARY: The installation was easy from start to finish. I am completely satisfied with the well-functioning 24H2 version.

**I can recommend this installation method to everyone - to be performed as an alternative - if necessary.**🤔😁

This failed on my system as well. The result really screwed my system.

Drivers were now missing, MS teams could no longer authenticate me, and Outlook won't boot up (stuck in processing).

Opening Outlook in safe mode, it won't update my inboxes for any of my accounts.

Rolling back to the restore point just before the upgrade attempt did not resolve any of the Teams or Outlook issues.

None of my attempts at restoring outlook, even re-installing, have resolved the issues.

    Great update, Microsoft. nice job.

    so 3x a charm. 24H2 installed successfully.

Still getting driver errors for a Citrix app. Tried uninstalling it from add/remove programs, as well as the Citrix uninstaller and it won't proceed. No idea why. I'll keep working on this.

For the Outlook and Teams issues where Outlook was stuck in "processing" and wouldn't complete the book, and Teams couldn't authenticate me, I found the issue, thanks to another blog I found.

Super easy solution found after a full day of dealing with it...
Internet options > connections > LAN settings > check box "auto detect settings" > ok

The 24H2 update apparently unchecked this setting on my system. I never would have found this... my internet connection was not disrupted anywhere except in MS apps.

I have decided that sometime these brilliant programmers can figure it out and resend out to us...I am a sales guy... I am not going to try until they get this fixed!! I update everyone that comes across...so it's not because I have not downloaded updates.

Done this. Removed all drivers listed as non compliant.

    Update still fails.

ONLY thing I haven't tried is uninstalling my Norton antivirus rather than just fiddling it for the duration of the update.

I really resent being forced to do this when it hasn't ever caused any issues on prior updates.

But having battered my head against this update process for weeks now, I must just give it a try

I deleted all the drivers hvciscan identified (mostly for a Logitech webcam I use, but also one which is used to download videos (jaksta)

After all this, hvciscan said no drivers were found as non compliant.

The update still fails with the same code as before

    0xc1900101 - 0x20017 failed in safe_os during boot

The error code and the extended error code you mentioned can usually be fixed by updating the BIOS and the chipset drivers for your motherboard.
