Windows 11, version 24H2 won't install

Hello

I never had any problems with my PC .

Windows 11, version 24H2 update is ready to install, I approve the restart, it starts working, stops at 68% for 5 minutes, then restarts and turns off PC. When I booth back, it simply wants to download it and install it again.

Troubleshooter shows Error but offers no solution.

I have downloaded the ISO and followed all instructions, but 26% in, the installer just stops all goes back to windows and says Windows 11 instalation failed.

Any ideas?

    No problem, Ramesh. Hopefully what we worked on will help you help others. Lots of folks on this thread (and other earlier threads) are sweating through this upgrade. In some ways, this was easier than when I replaced my motherboard and CPU and upgraded from Win 10 to 11 at the same time a couple of years ago.

    WMI is apparently running. I used Powershell:

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-Service Winmgmt

    Status   Name               DisplayName

    ------   ----               -----------

    Running  Winmgmt            Windows Management Instrumentation

    I saved the log to my desktop as WS-Sources-Panther-setupact.log. Here's the link:

    I've deleted the incompatible driver and app identified by the upgrade (HWINFO64, which I don't use) using Advanced Uninstaller Pro. I've deleted various files you had me save on my desktop for sharing with you. Windows Update shows I'm current with 24H2. My Tray had all its apps after I restarted this morning. I'll work on rebuilding my Taskbar to restore what I had (multiple pinned apps and menus with links to apps and directories). Acronis backups didn't run and don't display so I'll work on that. PowerToys updated without a hitch. I'm trying to get the NEW Outlook to work (OLD Outlook still runs—I've been using that all along). I used CoPilot for the first time to see how to confirm whether WMI is running. Word and Access and many other apps seem to be running fine. Strange stuff happens with every major upgrade to Windows (I started with Win 3.1) so I'll get it all back in order or adjust to the new changes eventually.

    Well done. Ramesh sorted you out.

    Ah Macs v PCs the old days. Nothing wrong with CP/M 😅. The old DOS commands come in handy... bit like finding middle C.

    @Ken:

    My previous post about WMI was addressed to DavidTunstall. Sorry for the confusion.
