I’m wondering if the scan would also help those like me experiencing performance problems once 24H2 is installed?

You remove them from the registry. Removing from the registry ditches them. There is a technique online that you can find. I did paste it in further up.

I find Windows 11 24h2 works fine, but they did reintroduce the file manager delay again which had been fixed. It builds up an index or something. First use always takes a while. If you hibernate you aren't bothered with it again until you reboot. They do have the disappearing mouse pointer bug... still appears to be in there.

Support for 32 bit code has been improved. My Epsom scanner you can now see what you are doing with it on the screen. Buttons had disappeared, you had to guess where to click. Now back... unexpectedly. It was a known issue but got sorted out :). That was a Windows 11 issue, fine in 10.

If this is the case, Microsoft absolutely needs to make sure that the 24H2 download + installation goes from start to finish WITHOUT PROBLEMS!

Indeed a crunch year for them. Corporate managers verses what their products do. The expiration of Windows 10 is an added dimension. Corporate bosses probably aren't too aware of the Windows 11 24h2 product foibles.

Been using Microsoft products for 40 years or so now you often groan a little.... saying that those old DOS commands coming handy now. Early training.

i got a few programs that are not microsoft. Google, Steam, Discord, Malwarebytes, Norton Antivirus. i need these i cannot uninstall them. i don't know if that will affect the installation. i am losing trust in microsoft here. this update will reamin in limbo until it is sorted out or security is lightened up big time.

Well you can run the iso selecting not to update the drivers (that's not the preferred option but experts reckon its the best option, toggle to off). If it installs, it installs, if not it will roll back. Best to back up beforehand. If it fails you either attempt to fix it or leave it. Since I'd got it installed on three others decided I'd carry on trying to sort it out. Nine weeks later success. One pesky driver was the issue. I wasn't prepared to give up easily. It was an HP All in One, one it installed on, the second it wouldn't. Same model plus one year on that had slightly different chipset. That Adobe DVD driver that was on it, with no DVD. Suspect it might have been Lightroom that had been installed on it which put the driver in play.

Then some commands to delete the offending driver and Bob was then your Uncle.

As said I'd been Googling fragments of the installation log file then hit on HVCI. That only comes in as I understand it when the update is being sown up in the UEFI secure state above 70% installed. Offending drivers and installation terminates with a roll back but little info on why. Why people who toggle the backend security off managed to get it to work... but say they don't know whether it was that or not in long posts you find.

Other people have found the scan useful. It's not talked about much, least not in December 2023 as a tool to find offending drivers as part of 24h2 upgrade failure. You keep the backend security but remove the offending driver.
