Windows 11, version 24H2 won't install

what do you mean?

I MEAN THIS:

I installed the big 24H2 update on my computer (HP 470 G9 laptop, Windows 11 Pro).

**It failed several times at first,**when I tried to install it in several different ways!

Here are the different steps:

1) It originally appeared for download onWindows Update on Nov 22. I tried to download it 2 times – the downloadalways stopped at 8%

2)It appeared again on Windows Update on Dec 15. Now the download and installation proceeded to the end– but then theinstaller started automatically undoing the changes made to the computer --> revertedback to v. 23H2

3) I then tried installing from theISO file --> failed(for some reason it reported aproblem with the installation language (?)-->could not select the option at all: “Keep my files and apps”

**4) The update finally went well and without any problems with this method:**💻👍👍

It trips if the original language doesn't tally with the one selected. American English won't work with International English and vis versa why save files and apps is greyed out. In the ISO method it checks that.

Could you tell me why I was able to install 24H2 without any problems using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant ... and many others are having serious troubles all the time even though they follow strict, long, complicated instructions?🙄🤔

For example, any wrong driver has never been found on my computer.

i was able to check how full my Y drive is and it is full apparently my downloads go straight to the y driver and not the c drier where they are supposed to go.

Did you try their solution?

1. Search for cmd. Press-and-hold or right-click on Command Prompt in the results, and select Run as administrator.
2. At the command prompt, type mountvol y: /s and then hit Enter. This will add the Y: drive letter to access the System Partition.

I never had this issue. So I pass on it. I did get thrown into those weird drives a few times with a defective driver but it wasn't that partition was full. It's an intermediate position in the process. I had to type type type the drive letter to get going or something. Forgot exactly. But concerning when it suddenly drops into those drive letters.... for me when I wasn't expecting it.

Then after 24h2 was installed it had updated to the defective driver. It was a "Muhammed" on a post that had identified the defective driver that messed up the process. If you followed the advice to update all drivers before doing the update you fell into the trap. The ISO method of taking update the drivers now or words to that effect gets the duff one in. So I went down that route and got bumped out a few times. That wasn't my main issue. That was the memory integrity driver, the Adobe DVD driver that was always lurking on the system that failed the final installation and could also crash you out into weird drives at 70%. Got multi boot points. Those youngsters can't write code anymore:).

In all this nonsense you read those standard posts that aren't your solution rename this to that etc. The dust down installation. I just did the 23h2 inplace recovery which is available on the menu of 23h2 to dust it down before embarking on another "test" 24h2 update. Only googling fragments of the log file stumbled on the memory integrity test of the drivers as the solution.

Well we hope 25h2 will be a lot smoother.
