Same for me, Dave. I've had no problem with Windows 11 (or earlier versions) accepting Norton protection software.
Windows 11, version 24H2 won't install
Hello
I never had any problems with my PC .
Windows 11, version 24H2 update is ready to install, I approve the restart, it starts working, stops at 68% for 5 minutes, then restarts and turns off PC. When I booth back, it simply wants to download it and install it again.
Troubleshooter shows Error but offers no solution.
I have downloaded the ISO and followed all instructions, but 26% in, the installer just stops all goes back to windows and says Windows 11 instalation failed.
Any ideas?

I'M NOT SURE (?), but I remember reading somewhere: In order for 24H2 to install, you need to have 23H2 installed on your computer.
I suspect that's the case, but I've installed every Windows update that's been offered by Microsoft, including my Office subscription. I dont' recall ever being advised to update to 22H2 or 23H2 and until now (21H2 support died in October, I think) everything was working fine. I looked online for an upgrade to 22H2 or 22H3 but can't find that option. -

2024-12-18T19:08:22+00:00 Setuplogscollect.bat did not create a zip file. For every .evtx file, it reported these lines (I took a screenshot, used Sh+Win+T to copy the text, then manually corrected the output shown below):
New File 69632 C:$WINDOWS.~.BT\Sources\R011back\evtlogs\Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig%40perationa1.evtx
2024/12/18 08:61:21 ERROR 2 (0x00000002)Changing File Attributes C:$WINDOWS.~vBT\Sources\R011back\evtlogs\Mic rosoft -Windows -WLAN-AutoConfig%40perationa1.evtx
The system cannot find the file specified. Then it would say "Waiting 30 seconds" and start again. About the tenth time (I was typing other notes while it ran) I noticed it was repeating itself.
The app Everything confirms each .evtx file is in the directory list in the command window.
I can manually copy and paste the contents of each setuperr.log (in C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther) if that helps. Easy to do.
When I tried viewing the .evtx files in Notepad, Notepad++, or Metapad, I'd get an error.About a dozen messages arrived while we were out getting a Christmas tree. I'll browse though them soon.

2024-12-18T18:44:30+00:00 I installed the big 24H2 update on my computer (HP 470 G9 laptop, Windows 11 Pro).
It failed several times at first, when I tried to install it in several different ways!
Here are the different steps:
1) It originally appeared for download on Windows Update on Nov 22. I tried to download it 2 times – the download always stopped at 8%
2) It appeared again on Windows Update on Dec 15. Now the download and installation proceeded to the end – but then the installer started automatically undoing the changes made to the computer --> reverted back to v. 23H2
3) I then tried installing from the ISO file --> failed (for some reason it reported a problem with the installation language (?) --> could not select the option at all: “Keep my files and apps”
**4) The update finally went well and without any problems with this method:**💻👍👍
Windows 11 Installation Assistant
I would like to emphasize that this is one of the three official installation methods recommended by Microsoft!
Microsoft: This is the best option for installing Windows 11 on the device you’re currently using.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11/
Note! It is important to note that in order to proceed the installation process, everyone must first pass the WindowsPCHealthCheck (which can be launched from the link at the top of the downloaded Windows 11 Installation Assistant -application window)
After I successfully👍👍updated my computer to version 24H2 using Windows 11 Installation Assistant on Dec 15 --> 2 quality updates and 17 driver updates (quite a lot)😮🤔came next to Windows Update (SCREENSHOT).
SUMMARY: The installation was easy from start to finish. I am completely satisfied with the well-functioning 24H2 version.
**I can recommend this installation method to everyone - to be performed as an alternative - if necessary.**🤔😁
