I have exactly the same problem as this (reported earlier this year), but with the new KB5048239 update. I get the 0x80070643 error when it tries to install. Retried several times, but same issue. I'm pretty sure this is the same problem that I had back in January, too. All security updates have worked fine since then, till now. At that time I was told that this was a general problem with the update and a fix was being made by Microsoft. I did wait and eventually that previous update went away. Now here we are again...

Hello,

The 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441) will not install on my Windows 10 laptop computer.

I get the following message There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643) Retry

When I click on Retry it says its Installing-0% for a few minutes then Installed-100% and then I get Download Error (0x80070643) There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643) Retry

Windows Update Troubleshooter could not fix this problem.

I'm not sure what to do, please help.

Thank you

Have you read all the older posts within this discussion thread?

    Try this:

    1. right-mouse-button click on the Windows "Start" button.
    2. choose "Disk Management" to see output like the below.
    3. Double-click on the vertical-bar just before "Capacity" to increase the width of the "Status" window.
    4. How large (Megabytes) is that "System Reserved" partition?
    5. Is that partition at the "start" or the "end" of the disk-drive?
    6. Previous messages on this thread suggest several ways to "shrink" or "enlarge" the partitions, to increase the size of that "System Reserved" partition.
    7. After the "resizing", try again to apply the update.

    Leon,

    given:

and a "spare" disk-drive (at least 2B in size), can you:

    1. boot into AOMEI -- not booting into Windows,
    2. "clone" that 789 MB onto the spare,
    3. delete that 789 MB partition, to create 463+789 MB of free-space,
    4. allocate just 1 MB of space of that free-space,
    5. clone from the spare into the remaining 463-plus-789-minus-1 amount of free-space.

I am a little worried that the "reagentc /info" command originally pointed to "partition 4" as the Recovery partition, but now the 463 MB is "partition 4", while the recovery partition is "partition5".

Or, play it simple, and "clone" your original disk-drive onto a brand-new (and faster) disk-drive, while "resizing" each partition. Expand "partition 1", slightly shrinking the "C:" partition, and expanding "partition3".

    Hi Melvin,

tried twice to move that partition into free space with AOMEI Partition Assistant (which I had used awhile back) and not able to move it. very frustrating. Tomorrow being the first I will give it another shot when I can spend a little free (?) time. :-)

I may also go down into the basement and reboot into the RAID BIOS and see what it says too and report back

    Happy New Year, Leon
