Security Update for Windows 10, 2024-11, KB5048239 getting error 0x80070643 when installing

I have exactly the same problem as this (reported earlier this year), but with the new KB5048239 update. I get the 0x80070643 error when it tries to install. Retried several times, but same issue. I'm pretty sure this is the same problem that I had back in January, too. All security updates have worked fine since then, till now. At that time I was told that this was a general problem with the update and a fix was being made by Microsoft. I did wait and eventually that previous update went away. Now here we are again...

The 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441) will not install on my Windows 10 laptop computer.

I get the following message There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643) Retry

When I click on Retry it says its Installing-0% for a few minutes then Installed-100% and then I get Download Error (0x80070643) There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. Windows Update Troubleshooter could not fix this problem.

I'm not sure what to do, please help.

    Hi Melvin,

    yeah never thought about that. But since I work from home getting time to "play" to do that need to push off till weekend.

    the host boot drive (C:/F:) is a drive drive raid array I believe Raid 1 fyi

    this is really a pita :-)

    Does your "host" computer have a CD/DVD drive with SATA power & data connections? If so, you can temporarily disconnect it, remove it, and connect the "spare" SATA disk-drive.

    Hi Melvin,

    i've done chkdsk /f/r and the sfc and dism multiple times I can try it again.

    can not add another drive except via USB all the drive bays are being used.

    Drive C: on the host is W2012R2; Drive F: is where the VMs live.

    I do have a few USB drives I could give a shot.

    Let me see if I can get more time over the weekend.

    What causes Update Error 0x80070050 in Windows?

    This error normally mostly occurs because of a failing hardware component or when the system files become corrupted.

    Run CHKDSK and SFC tools and check if the problem resolves. In case it still persists, this must be due to the following reasons –

    Missing DLL files

    Incorrect registry entries

    Incorrect Date & Time

    To overcome this issue, apply the workarounds in the exact order as discussed below ...

    Can you add another disk-drive (1 TB or larger) to your "host" system, and use Macrium Reflect to copy your "VM" partition onto this new disk-drive, and then update Hyper-V to (virtually) boot from this new disk? Maybe, Macrium will report "errors" when trying to clone from that one partition, and you can try its "continue anyway" option to copy 99.99% of the partition?

    Hi Melvin,

    yeah i thought it expired no biggie on that

    I had a reply queued up and had to change tabs and came back and it wouldnt let me send it but said I had a reply open :-(

    So i did the update using the security shield and that seemed to work.

    Windows update then came up with only the one update.

    I just tried the windows update troubleshooter again and it couldnt find anything

    I am at wit's end
