Security Update for Windows 10, 2024-11, KB5048239 getting error 0x80070643 when installing

I have exactly the same problem as this (reported earlier this year), but with the new KB5048239 update. I get the 0x80070643 error when it tries to install. Retried several times, but same issue. I'm pretty sure this is the same problem that I had back in January, too. All security updates have worked fine since then, till now. At that time I was told that this was a general problem with the update and a fix was being made by Microsoft. I did wait and eventually that previous update went away. Now here we are again...

The 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441) will not install on my Windows 10 laptop computer.

I get the following message There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643) Retry

When I click on Retry it says its Installing-0% for a few minutes then Installed-100% and then I get Download Error (0x80070643) There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. Windows Update Troubleshooter could not fix this problem.

I'm not sure what to do, please help.

    The first time for these symptoms, Microsoft, a few months later, issued a different update that updated the "Restore" partition, without the need for the 250 MB of "free" space within the partition.

    Curiously, today, when I applied this month's updates, with the one "failure", and then restarted, then Windows Update successfully installed the "failed" update.

    There is proof within the Windows Update list of changes, and in the amount of "free" and "in-use" bytes in that "Recovery" partition, that the update has been installed. Weird.

    I think that 400gb of free space can be enough for 2 updates of a few mb.

    My computer and operating system has no problem, the problem is the broken updates released by Microsoft.

    The second solution worked but...

    disabled reagentc

    deleted 2 files with xml extensions in windows\system32\recovery

    ran WinUpdate and all previous failed updates including kb5048239 loaded to completion

    'Windows is up to date message.' History says so too.

    Restarted PC.

    ran reagentc /enable. Operation successful.

    Ran WinUpdate.

    Back to same issue. kb5042320 and kb5048239 try to run again, even though history says they ran successfully

    ???????

    have my fulldisk backup from earlier today to restore if necessary.
