I have had Phone link working for years with my Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra.
Recently, part of the functionality stopped working, specifically, the "open phone screen" part. I keep getting an error 256.
The phone is on Wifi, connected to a Ubiquiti NanoHD.
The PC is a desktop on 10 Gbps ethernet.
Both are in the same /24 subnet, using DHCP with IP reservations in the router.
The phone says it's connected to the PC. The PC says the phone is connected to it.
I can see the phone's text messages & photos on the PC.
I just can't open the phone screen on my PC, or show any app on my PC's screen.

Used to work with no issues
Reinstalled latest Link app on Windows and cleared caches on Android
The PC sees the phone but I can;t activate any App from the PC - Error 256

2024-11-22T20:20:56+00:00 At this point I'm wondering if it's even a client app regression. Phone link uses cloud servers for device discovery. It could be a regression on those servers that somehow only affects the screen mirroring/app case. Microsoft operates those servers .

On a Win11 box, I rolled back the Windows app to 1.24032.156.0 .
On the smartphone, the factory version of the app is 1.24032.529.0 .
Unfortunately, the problem remains the same when trying to mirror the screen - error 256 .
It looks like there is a 3rd component to this, which is indeed developed by Samsung, called the Link to Windows service, rather than app. It says the last update is from October 28, 2024 though.
Not sure if it's possible to rollback that one to an earlier version.
