Phone link error 256 with S22 Ultra

I have had Phone link working for years with my Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra.

Recently, part of the functionality stopped working, specifically, the "open phone screen" part. I keep getting an error 256.

The phone is on Wifi, connected to a Ubiquiti NanoHD.

The PC is a desktop on 10 Gbps ethernet.

Both are in the same /24 subnet, using DHCP with IP reservations in the router.

The phone says it's connected to the PC. The PC says the phone is connected to it.

I can see the phone's text messages & photos on the PC.

I just can't open the phone screen on my PC, or show any app on my PC's screen.

    Thanks. Unfortunately, I had already tried that.

    Today, I'm getting a different symptom - both sides say they are disconnected. I'm not sure what changed.

    Then, the PC side tells me to open and scan a new QR code to reconnect. I do so on my S22 Ultra. And the phone tells me it's an invalid QR code.

    I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but after spending way too long trying to get this to work right, I ended smashing the "Try again" button about a dozen times in row out of frustration. Magically, at some point, the application started to work and connected to the phone. After that, all phone apps were accessible as before. I haven't tested this behaviour post-reboot to see if it 'sticks'. No idea what broke it or why smashing the Try Again button a dozen times finally make the PC and phone work.
