I have had Phone link working for years with my Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra.
Recently, part of the functionality stopped working, specifically, the "open phone screen" part. I keep getting an error 256.
The phone is on Wifi, connected to a Ubiquiti NanoHD.
The PC is a desktop on 10 Gbps ethernet.
Both are in the same /24 subnet, using DHCP with IP reservations in the router.
The phone says it's connected to the PC. The PC says the phone is connected to it.
I can see the phone's text messages & photos on the PC.
I just can't open the phone screen on my PC, or show any app on my PC's screen.

Samsung flow is good, but the functionality is somewhat different. You need to manually start it on both sides. You can only open a single phone screen on the PC side - not multiple windows for each app. There is no separate handling for text messages or photos in Flow, also.
The good news is that you can use both Phone link and flow at the same time, until Microsoft and/or Samsung fix the situation with phone screen not working in Phone link. When they do, I'll stop using Flow.
Yup. Having the same issue on both my S23 Ultra and my Galaxy Tab S9. So clearly an MS issue. Seems to have coincided with a recent Windows update. Sadly smashing "Try again" doesn't do anything. Unpaired and repaired devices. Nada. I just keep waiting to see an update - hope it comes soon so I can resume productivity as normal.
Same issue here on my S22. Started after the last update to Phone Link. I guess we deal with it until MS realizes the problem and fixes it.
I suddenly have the same problem on my Galaxy S20 5G. Was working great, then after an update on the android side a few days ago it broke. Was able to get it working last night but this morning no luck.
I have same issue with my S22.
I've been using phone link for a while then yesterday I started get error code 256 when I try to start an app (any and every app gives same error).
It still shows my phone is connected and I am still able to use message portion only.
Connection to my Laptop PC is the same issue.
