Can someone help me out here? After I updated my Windows software on my laptop this evening, I got a message saying "Your version of Windows has reached the end of service". This really confuses me because I'm on Windows 11 and I got a new laptop literally 2 months ago and I barely even used 10-15% of it's total memory space on my C Drive.

Does anyone know what's going on here? Does this mean I won't be able to get security updates for my Windows on my new laptop? Am I going to have to pay more money just to get Windows to work properly and stay up-to-date? I'm feeling very concerned.

    Rob Nicholson Malt,

Use the Installation Assistant Download Windows 11 to update to 24H2 directly.

Regarding shipping with an earlier version. The devices are manufactured then sit in a warehouse. Just shows when they were build. Or they have been using an older image.

This is nothing unusual. What is strange is why one would update using every version to 24H2 and not just go straight to 24H2.

My client has just bought four Surface 4 Pros which have shipped with Windows 11 Pro 22H2!! Shipped... bought a few days ago. The pain of updating! The first one installed the 22H2 updates. It then prompted to install 23H2 and after that 24H2. Tedious beyond belief but at least it updated.

The other three have installed the 22H2 updates but aren't offering anything else. Why these have worked differently from the first one is one of those great mysteries. All it says is "Your version of Windows has reached and end of service" and no amount of clicking "Check for updates", nothing.

I guess I'm going to have to download 22H3 ISO to each one and do the update manually? Come on Microsoft, this is your own equipment!!

It's very unfortunate that we can't get your computer upgraded to Windows 11 24H2. Possibly sooner or later, it may just upgrade on it's own but that's wishful thinking. LOL

I guess the only alternative is to pay someone or some computer repair store to do it for you. I am not sure how much that would cost. Up to you whether you want to spend money on it or purchase a brand new one already configured with Windows 11 24H2 and has all the hardware necessary to run Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. It all comes down to money and how much you're willing to spend.

    Best of luck,

    Chuck
