Latest Windows 11 24/H2 Release and Graphics Issues

I'm sorry that as the Microsoft Community support team, I am unable to give you very professional answers on your issue with hardware compatibility with latest Windows Update and doubts about the latest software developments. But judging from the information in your reply, which you did not mention in your first place, if you are using an Asus device, the compatibility issues between the 24H2 update and ASUS devices are indeed known and public. Microsoft has a dedicated page to introduce the known issues in the 24H2 update package, which mentions the compatibility issues of some ASUS devices. You can click this page to view it:

In response to William's reply - please do not take my mark as 'unhelpful' as personal. This is a reflection on how the Microsoft organisation support users when issues like this occur.

Microsoft's support processes and organisation in cases such as this are inadequate and needs improvement.

This support page appears to try to deal with all Windows 11 issues and does not allow granularity on reporting specific Graphics hardware compatibility problems with this new release.

The failure of an onboard iGPU (Intel) in a Windows system to work alongside a discrete GPU in a major Windows release is a serious functional problem and needs priority focus to fix.

Any problem like this should have been trapped at QA stage prior to release to the public.

As regards just ASUS devices being affected, this is in fact not correct as I have seen users of MSI Motherboards also reporting exactly the same issue. It is not solely limited to ASUS.

I looked at the reported problems link you included.

This does not mention issues with a Graphics iGPU. It simply states there can be a problem to complete the Windows update to 24H2.

I think this refers to a different issue entirely.

The ASUS models mentioned in this article are in fact Laptops, not discrete PC Desktop motherboards such as ASUS Z series.

There is not even any mention in Microsoft's bulletin here about the ASUS Z890 series as published below by ASUS themselves. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1054046/

As a result, I have not gained any new insight into what is happening about this iGPU/GPU issue on Windows 24/H2 release from Microsoft.

Unfortunately I am no clearer on what is happening on this issue. Seems impossible to get any information out of Microsoft on this problem caused by Windows 11 24/H2.

The only information is that I see several colleagues on Adobe Community reporting this issue on Windows 24/H2. Not sure yet if this is limited to certain Intel chipsets.

To be clear on the problem : on Windows 23/H2 you can use the iGPU on board GPU for decoding H264 and H265 video that is compatible, and have the discrete GPU eg NVidia RTX working alongside. Intel K series are capable of iGPU decoding in most cases I believe.

Seems in Windows 24/H2 it only allows one GPU which does not maximise resources in the PC you have invested in.

People seeing this issue use Z690 chipset. Also, Asus reports issues with Z890 chipset, and Adobe users with MSI motherboards too.

I don't know how long Microsoft are going to keep users in the dark on this problem. Its very annoying.
