Latest Windows 11 24/H2 Release and Graphics Issues

I have read issues around Windows 11 24H2 which cause disruption /conflicts with GPU (eg NVidia) and iGPU (eg Intel Graphics)

I use both GPU's for Video and Photography processing for the Apps I have.

My iGPU is Enabled in BIOS and should not be disabled which it seems can happen with Windows 11 24H2. This is a step into the dark ages.

From evidence I see Windows 11 24H2 kills the iGPU

Has anyone else found this and what is Microsoft doing to fix it?

I noticed with 24H2, Win11 added D3D12 feature extensions specifically for AI acceleration with GPUs. And they updated the WDDM.

I think MS may be watching your screen using modern GPUs without really telling people at this point. It could explain crashing issues when screen goes off and loses some buffers its trying to watch and it could explain some performance loss.

But IDK. I've moved to "KDE Neon" or "Fedora Kinoite" (or PopOS / Aurora-UniversalBlue for Nvidia systems) for myself or others as its just better at this point. While I still have a need for Windows for work, I recommend getting away from it on other systems at this point.

Can reproduce on my desktop PC. The computer has AMD A620 chipset, Ryzen 7 8700G CPU with Radeon 780M iGPU, and nVidia 4070 Ti Super discrete GPU.

I tried clean install of Windows 11 24H2. Once the AMD iGPU driver is installed, the computer enters GPU driver crash loop. Rebooting into safe mode and uninstalling the driver fixes the issue, however I need both GPUs in the computer. I have tried couple different versions of the AMD iGPU driver, same result.

It seems the broken component is the new version of the OS. The only solution I found — installing Windows 10 instead of the 11. Windows 10 runs flawlessly on the same computer despite using the same driver version which caused issues on Win11. AMD provides the same driver installer for Win10 and Win11 OS versions.

Sounds very annoying. Have you raised this officially with Microsoft and escalated it ?.

AMD and Nvidia should also be aware but sounds like Win 11 24H2 again.

Did you have this combination working on the previous windows version Win 11 23H2?.

I’m just a home user without enterprise windows or a support contract.

The computer is about 1 year old. Last Summer I installed whichever Windows 11 was available back then, and it worked well afterwards. Recently needed clean re-install of the OS, used media creation tool to download the currently available 24H2, that’s how I discovered the current version of Windows is broken on my computer.
