Latest Windows 11 24/H2 Release and Graphics Issues

Sorry to hear about your issue. There have been some similar user reports on the driver compatibility issues after Windows 24H2 update. How do you know that Windows 24H2 kills your iGPU? We recommend you check in the Device Manager, to see if you can still find the iGPU under the graphics device.

If you can still find the iGPU device, but you see yellow exclamation marks on it, ensure you have the latest Intel integrated graphics drivers. Microsoft might not always provide the most recent drivers through Windows Update, and downloading them directly from Intel’s website can help.

If you cannot find the corresponding device, you need to contact an after-sales support for further check on hardware issues.

For further information, you may need to contact Intel Support for more technical information on updates for your specific Intel Graphics card. You can share your computer specifications with us, and we can help you figure it out.

On the other hand, if you have an urgent need for your both GPUs, you can consider downgrading the system to a prior state before update. This can be done in Settings - Windows Update. How to uninstall a Windows update - Microsoft Support

OK let me a bit clearer on this topic

At present I have seen various reports including those from other manufacturers who have said that Windows 11 24H2 has caused iGPU and GPU functionality issues

I am on Winodws 11 23H2 at present and have temporarily paused an update to Windows11 24H2 until I get some crystal clear information in Microsoft on this problem

Fellow users on the forum I use for Video editing (Adobe) have reported issues since updating to Windows11 24H2 from 23H2.

I use all very latest drivers on Intel and Nvidia, so do they.

The Video editing software utilises both iGPU and GPU for decoding footage such as H264 and H265 - this utilises both resources and limits demand on CPU from Software decoding. This has been around for years.

In this ASUS Z890A motherboard notice (see link above) it states Windows11 24H2 causes conflicts and the 'fix' for now is to disable th iGPU. This is not acceptable, since people using both resources need iGPU and GPU functioning.

THeir work around is to simply 'disable' the Intel iGPU. This is NOT a fix.

Please re-direct my query to the Microsoft Graphics/Video expert support teams (if that is possible) - if not, how do I get to them to understand what is going on.

It seems to be impossible to have informed communication with anyone in Microsoft Support on this topic.

I have the same issue. All the video related software either stopped using the iGPU of my Inte;'s processor or uses is just e bit showing the 3D (not decode or encode) load which is a complete nonsense. The overall CPU load meanwhile went up. I tried different versions of the software, different drivers, even turned off my GPU from power and in Windows 11 23h2 it's OK while in 24h2 the iGPU is not used.

To be noted - my iGPU works perfectly, the drivers are all up to date. I can game on the iGPU but all the video related software in the new Windows doesn't use it at all.

Thanks for confirming you are experiencing the same issues with 24H2 and iGPU.

There does not seem to be any visibility from Microsoft on this saying they are 'officially' aware.

I'll see if this can be escalated
