Latest Windows 11 24/H2 Release and Graphics Issues

I have an nVidia RTX 3070 ti graphics card that works perfectly under W11 23H2

My system was placed on update hold due to the card driver which then got release.

On upgrading to W11 24H2 the system crashes and the card is not recognised.

I have currently had to go back to W11 23H2 and wait but there is no information on this from Microsoft or nVidia. As the problem occurred after a Microsoft-invoked update, can someone from Microsoft please tell me what to expect with this as there is no other suggestion from anyone other than Microsoft to say 'dont upgrade but wait for an updated driver'..... the problem was caused by a Windows update and HOT a driver update.

Can you(Microsoft) please provide some insight/update as to 1) what the problem is 2) What is anything I can do/provide to help and 3) How I will know that it is OK to resume updates to my critical machine please.

I should add the event viewer logs error s:

Pre-Download Nvidia drivers off internet for your card.

Download DDU to uninstall drivers in safe mode.

Disconnect from the internet and install your Nvidia drivers.

Reconnect to internet.

I make no pretensions of being a Windows or software/hardware guru. That disclaimer aside, I have the strangest computer performance to report and I hope by doing so it can give you clues to solve this 24h2 / Nvidia graphics conflict, or a work around. Maybe this is in line with the conflicts you are having.

In the past 48 hours all online videos, animated graphics, youtube, anything moving onscreen really, have started stuttering. Choppy vids, etc. I have:

1. Updated all drivers
2. Updated all software including preview updates.
3. Cleared all pertinent caches
4. Run a ton of scans and tests of hard and software
5. Turned performance features off, turn features on, and off

No success.

Stupid simple setup. Windows 11, Quadro RTX 4000. A Lenovo Thinkpad. Nothing special. No hotrodding. While filling out a support form to Microsoft there is a section where you can record the behavior. Yeah, you guessed it, while the recorder was running all graphics ran smooth. Submitted form anyway.

Then thought, wait, what can I turn on and leave on that will at least let me use this thing? Right clicked Start. Selected System. Minimized System window to bar. All graphics running smooth now. And I mean all. A work around for this machine but not solved. Reading most forums and M's poor response I'm not sure it will be.

A mighty tale about mighty little but this works and I didn't have to trash everything to do it. If this gives you clues on what the issue is, please check it out and let us know if you've got it sorted. If not, maybe this will help some of you for now. Cheers..

I disabled Intel iGPU and it didn't help.

I have 2 RTX 3060 GPUs as well though. Maybe its something to do with just more than 1 GPU in your system. Given 50% of laptops have two GPUs, this should have been tested more if this is the issue.

but nothing in there about the iGPU and Graphics issues fixes ?.

Intel have done previous tests on their drivers (report back clean) and point finger at Windows 11 24H2 for the iGPU decoding mess.

Whoever decided to release Win 11 24H2 needs a lesson in QA testing.
