Latest Windows 11 24/H2 Release and Graphics Issues

Can reproduce on my desktop PC. The computer has AMD A620 chipset, Ryzen 7 8700G CPU with Radeon 780M iGPU, and nVidia 4070 Ti Super discrete GPU.

I tried clean install of Windows 11 24H2. Once the AMD iGPU driver is installed, the computer enters GPU driver crash loop. Rebooting into safe mode and uninstalling the driver fixes the issue, however I need both GPUs in the computer. I have tried couple different versions of the AMD iGPU driver, same result.

It seems the broken component is the new version of the OS. The only solution I found — installing Windows 10 instead of the 11. Windows 10 runs flawlessly on the same computer despite using the same driver version which caused issues on Win11. AMD provides the same driver installer for Win10 and Win11 OS versions.

I noticed with 24H2, Win11 added D3D12 feature extensions specifically for AI acceleration with GPUs. And they updated the WDDM.

I think MS may be watching your screen using modern GPUs without really telling people at this point. It could explain crashing issues when screen goes off and loses some buffers its trying to watch and it could explain some performance loss.

But IDK. I've moved to "KDE Neon" or "Fedora Kinoite" (or PopOS / Aurora-UniversalBlue for Nvidia systems) for myself or others as its just better at this point. While I still have a need for Windows for work, I recommend getting away from it on other systems at this point.

I think Microsoft have lost the concept of Quality Assurance software tests !

Its probably going to be wise for me to take a Win 11 23H2 system image soon on my editing platform - as this seems to be working OK.

However, even then, Win 11 24H2 will force its way in again.

I have posted a question on the Intel Community as well asking for latest status on Win 11 24H2 and iGPU known issues and potential conflicts with NVidia card drivers. I'll post here if any useful information

Loading drivers at present is like walking in the dark as no manufacturer wants to admit they have issues !

Win. 11 is trying to force 23H2 users to 24H2.

I allowed Win. 11 system updates to install latest updates and next thing I know, 24H2 is trying to install.

I didn't select 24H2 to install. Only the lessor updates from 1-2 mo. ago.

I have now turned off updates but it's only a matter of time before a security update, Intel, NVIDIA, etc. is required or 24H2 required.

We won't be able to prevent Win. required updates going forward in the near future.

Did you contact Puget Systems about these issues?. I was wondering if their support group had come across these issues with Win 11 24h2?

If you bought your system from them they should help you I would have thought.

My system is still on Win 11 23H2 and I will take a full System Image (with Windows Back Up utility) before it touches my system.

I can then to restore everything if Win 11 24H2 turns out to be a disaster

BTW - Did you report all the problems you experienced with Win 11 24H2 via the Microsoft Feedback process as well?.

Also wondering if other Da Vinci Resolve users were shouting about these issues too?, hope so.

I'm still on Adobe Premiere Software but some users have H265 issues on Win 11 24H2.

No information on these problems ever seems to be documented in NVidia release documentation either .....not for something as serious as this.
