For the Windows 11 home, I've tried a lot of things to try and get it back up and going, but nothing is working. My key isn't even a year old.
For the store, my Xbox app wouldn't detect my friends list and when i went to launch a game it couldn't sync my cloud data and said i wasn't signed in even though i was. i tried a lot of things as well for this to work, nothing. the last thing i tried was the app repair and reset which uninstalled it. i tried installing it back and the Microsoft store couldn't do it and would just say error and that you've found an issue and are working on it. and it wasn't just the Xbox app that i couldn't reinstall, it was also the game bar and the gaming services app. i had know issues with the app yesterday either.
I could really use the help.

You can just go to C:\Users\your username folder, then identify files/folders you need to backup and move them to an external drive or cloud drive. These are your personal files, not system files. So like documents, your photos, music, etc.
As for thngs you need to reinstall, it wil be all of the apps that didn't come with Windows originally.
What would the steps be to back up my data? and how much do i need to reinstall when i do a clean install?
Just backup your data, and make sure you turn on secure boot in BIOS.
so do i still need the bios update or am i just backing up and doing the clean install?
Yes, it should. Make sure you enable secure boot first. After that, Go to the computer's BIOS boot menu to have it boot from the USB drive that has the .iso file already. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 11, making sure to choose "Custom install" and select the option to delete all existing partitions. Once the installation is complete, you'll have a clean installation of Windows 11 on your computer.
