Need fix for lost audio from update to Windows 24H2

I updated to Windows 24H2. I have now lost all of my audio. When I hover my mouse over the sound icon in the tray, it shows that "No audio device is installed". How do I fix this?

    Thank you. I tried the headphones and a USB speaker. Neither work for me.

    Question— in updates area, is it possible to select the updates that were most recently applied, and deinstall?

    Not something I’ve done, but I thought the capability exists or did.

    BTW, I noticed that a previously queued update to 24H2 (that failed) on one of my systems was subsequently removed. So it seems at least for some systems MS pulled the update.

    I have found that when the system boots, the system starts muted. If you unmute it, you hear nothing. If you mute it, sound comes on. If you unmute it, the sound stops again. It's in reverse. Then when you toggle stereo>mono>stereo, it starts working normally again.
