Need fix for lost audio from update to Windows 24H2

Thanks to you and others who took the time to respond. After messing around for a while, I decided to have Microsoft take over my laptop and fix the problem. I've had to do that more than once for the same reason.

Mine behaved the same. Audio stopped working after installing 24H2. However, when I reviewed the available output sound devices, I saw that Windows was pointing to the wrong device (RealTek) and when I selected the correct device (Display Audio), audio worked again. Maybe it's a similar situation for you.

I updated to Windows 24H2. I have now lost all of my audio. When I hover my mouse over the sound icon in the tray, it shows that "No audio device is installed". How do I fix this?

After the Wlindows 11 24H2 update 2025-01, cumulative and .Net, I had the same issue that my output sound device had disappeared and got the "No audio device is installed" message.

The only place where i could see the loudspeaker device, was when I went into Control Panel -> Sound (mmsys.cpl). The device was there, but it had been inactivated. I activated it and everything was good again!

Yes but it is within 10 days I think. I waited too long.
