I updated to Windows 24H2. I have now lost all of my audio. When I hover my mouse over the sound icon in the tray, it shows that "No audio device is installed". How do I fix this?

    John DeV,

Thank you for your reply. I had tried some of your suggestions, such as running Troubleshooter, double-clicking the volume icon and opening the Device Manager. Unfortunately, no success. So I ran the recovery to return to Windows 11 23H2 and that returned my audio. I'll now wait for several months before I try upgrading again. I just find it curious how I have 2 computers of the same make and model, albeit one is 3 years older than the other, and the older one had no issue with the upgrade.

I have similar issue since I was updated to 24H2, but for me it's just any USB audio device. I've tried multiple things to try get my USB headset to work and to no avail. I'm able to use the same headset on another PC without problem so I know it's my own PC's installation. I've worked with Windows support to try to downgrade to 23H2, but I can't seem to actually get back to it. It's been like this for over 3 weeks now and no progress.

For me, other audio devices work when plugged into the 3.5mm jack in my back panel (Realtek Audio). It's just USB audio input/output that's broken. I've reinstalled the drivers (and also updated from MoBo manufacturer), reinstalled softwares, attempted downgrading to 23H2 (but seemingly can't get there), and opened two cases with Windows support.

Still looking to find someone that has a potential fix.

You're suggesting turning BT on and off? If you're suggesting using a BT speaker... I don't have one nor should I need to buy one- I have a fine speaker in my laptop that Microsoft has screwed up. I want them to stop playing Apple, own up to breaking the software, and fix it.

I also lost in and out built-in Realtek sound on my ASUS Zen laptop when 24H2 was installed yesterday.
I had previously lost in and out sound in November when version 10.29.0.11516 (14 Oct 2024) of the Intel Smart Sound Technology BUS driver was installed by my Driver Updater. Reverting to 10.29.0.11261 (06 Aug 2024) at that time solved the problem.

After having the problem again with the inbuilt sound devices after installing 24H2 - though being able to use an external USB mic and external USB sound bar OK - I have today had 10.29.0.11525 (18 Oct 2024) of the Intel SST BUS Driver installed by my Driver Updater.

I now have the in-built sound devices back OK.
