Windows Update Troubleshooter failing to run, anyone else having problems?

Both my Desktop and Laptop are suffering the same problem when attempting to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Operating system is Windows 11 24H2 with all updates applied to 11 December 2024 including KB5048667. After going through to the point where the troubleshooter runs, I get "I'm sorry.  I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem." I've done all the obvious (sfc, DISM) and no problems were found. I'm thinking it must be a generic problem as it happens on both my Windows 11 machines.

Looking at the comments from others on this subject, please note it's not the updates themselves that fail, they work OK, it's the TROUBLESHOOTER that is failing on my desktop and laptop with the error "I'm sorry.  I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem." I've just applied the latest updates KB5050009 and KB5049622 successfully but get the same error with the Troubleshooter. Strange, very strange.........

The first thing I received was access denied but I didn't start CMD as an Administrator

After i fixed that the first service stopped but the second said the service was either starting or stopping

I went to Services and my Windows Update service was stuck starting. I stopped it in Services and restarted it and it started

I had the issue as others with C:\Windows\System32>Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"

    Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

I went to the folder using File Explorer C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\ and deleted the two files in the folder named qmgr*.dat

After all that and restarting the services again my Windows Updates started working again
