Both my Desktop and Laptop are suffering the same problem when attempting to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Operating system is Windows 11 24H2 with all updates applied to 11 December 2024 including KB5048667. After going through to the point where the troubleshooter runs, I get "I'm sorry. I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem." I've done all the obvious (sfc, DISM) and no problems were found. I'm thinking it must be a generic problem as it happens on both my Windows 11 machines.

Ramesh 181.2K Reputation points Volunteer Moderator2025-01-16T11:52:02+00:00 I can not update the 23H2 this is the statement that it says about the computer 2025-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050021) it also says download error - 0x80040154
0x80040154 occurs if there is a mismatch between the servicing modules and the references in the registry. Also, DISM and SFC won't run, as far as I know.
