Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.
Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.
I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.
I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.
24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.
I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

2024-12-23T23:21:40+00:00 search indexing is bugged in windows 11 24H2 which is causing apps to load very slowly, sometimes taking several minutes. I checked for corrupt files, there were none. This is on intel optane drive.
several times per day, when clicking on an app it takes several minutes for it to open. task manager reveals 'search indexing" using resources during this delay, and going to search indexing.. options advanced, you can watch it reindexing hundreds of thousands of files, starting from zero. Deleting/rebuilding search indexer only temporarily fixes the problem, until it bugs again. After few hours doing something else, then click on an app, and again takes few to several minutes for app to start and it is reindexing as if I hit delete/rebuild button. I may try disabling search index next time I have an update with a bugged search index.
The fix was to roll back and get rid of windows 11 24h2 until microsoft addresses this search index bug.

I have a new Dell Latitude 5550 with 32 Gig of RAM and a blazing fast NVMe drive. All BIOS and drivers up to date. Upgraded to 24H2 two weeks ago. Windows 11 is now very slow opening apps, in particular Brave and Thunderbird. Did a disk image to an external NVMe drive before the upgrade. Will be reverting ASAP. I also run Linux MINT on an old Dell precision 7510. Funny how Thunderbird and Brave always open right away on that.

2024-12-24T19:34:48+00:00 Search indexing has been cursed for a long time. Your post made me check, and the update re-enabled the search indexing service (grrrrrr).
I switched to using a third-party app called Everything instead of the built-in search tool.

2024-12-25T03:43:25+00:00 Same issues as everyone else. I attempted recovery to 23H2. Recovery crashed and all my previous recovery points are lost. Now I'm stuck with this buggy 24H2 and can't run half the apps I normally use because of the lag. Thanks Microsoft for the no-solution solution.
