Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.

Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.

I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.

I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.

24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.

I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time

Thank you for your detailed report regarding the tyranical 24H2 WIN Update. Yes, like I've reveal, it is working CRAZY by me.

It is resetting all me settings, especially my Photography. I have Adobe Photoshop, the best app for photography, and windows

RESET just like so arbitrarily back to Windows Photo Viewer! Naturally I can't work with MS Viewer. So I make default app

back to Adobe Photoshop.

I think I will reinstall WIN 10, OR OR I will bloody get rid of this whole MS TRASH and acquire Apple Mc Intosch!

That will be a bloody expensive proposition, because all MS equipment must go trash. No, you cannot simply rewrite

Apple OS over Windows, You must purchase all new computer, Lapton, everything from Windows goes to the garbage!

On the same token, but I cannot be working CRAZY with Windows 24H2. That is ****. I hate HATE MS Windows,

the worst bloody OS on the planet. MS was actually NEVER very much good, Maybe WIN 7, that was good. WIN 8

was JUNK a FRACE. Win 10 not bad. Well, good luck with your rollback to 23H2. I **** on MS Windows!!!!!!!!

hello my windows 10 wanna have an upgrade to windows 11 but the downloading time period is too slow. still it shows 0% what is the issue with that, why it is not downloading faster

Why doesn't or why won't MS allow users more efficient control over this operating system? Why all the intrusiveness, asinine numerous unnecessary "background processes"? I'd like to be able to configure a quick basic startup with only required security processes running. For example; I often see multiple instances of Edge and other MS programs constantly starting and running in background? Is there any user-friendly way to adjust or control this? If not, Why? All I'm able to see and "disable" are a few otherwise useless items. Whether ASUS or Microsoft update issues, I honestly expect better. Please advise.

It depends on your SSD and RAM prob. Let it sit for a minute. If I’m being honest, you should actually cancel the install and stay on windows 10. Windows 11 is awful
