Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.

Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.

I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.

I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.

24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.

I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time

    Yes and some of those affected have Microsoft computers.

    Pete,

    I am glad you found a solution that works for you. Macs don’t work for us. Yes, the latest update was awful. I think 95% of us would agree with that.

    But running away from the problem is neither feasible nor reasonable for most of us.

    However, dear Microsoft, neither is ignoring the problem acceptable. You helped create it and I hope you are in the process of addressing it.

    I don’t want AI resident on my computer. If I want AI, I want it accessible as a web-based tool. I don’t want “improvements” such as the Intel version of the Killer apps that make flow-rate connection choices that impede my computer’s functionality. I want MS and not Intel masterminding what goes on in my device.

    And at the moment, Microsoft, I would appreciate acknowledgement on your part that this is a real issue. I believe that had you provided that acknowledgement early on, Pete might just have stayed with you.

    Xenify Studios - thank you for your EM answer relevant update WIN 11 24h2. Well, maybe your are fortunate to have good

    results, but I and millions of user around the world all condemn this update 24h2, which batched up the computers.

    The comp is SLOW SLOW, my settings are constantly being changed by MS to default.

    I was driven half to INSANITY with 24h2, so I got rid of the bloody WIN 11 totally and switched to APPLE Mac Intosch

    Well what a different world. To bloody HELL with Microsoft and WIN !! 24h2!

    Maik, thx for your EM, but frankly, I cannot comprehend your message; I do not understand what you're

    talking about. I know 24h2 is DISASTER update, granted, and I threw the whole bloody thing out and

    switched to Apple MACIINTOSCH, and now am very relieived and happy. No more **** from Microsoft.

    MS has RUINED the entire WIBN 11 OS with that bloody 24h2 update. OK? This all I could tell you, mate
