Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.

Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.

I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.

I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.

24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.

I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time

    Since this thread was initiated, I have been diligently checking it in hopes of finding a solution to the multitude of issues discussed. It is perplexing that Microsoft has not acknowledged or addressed the problem, nor have they even admitted that there is an issue at hand. The silence from Microsoft without a single word of acknowledgment is truly baffling.

    I recall your earlier comment indicating an intention to contact Microsoft officially, which I hoped would lead to some resolution. However, Microsoft has marked a comment in this thread as a solution without thoroughly investigating the users' concerns. This gives the impression that Microsoft either does not comprehend the problem or is deliberately ignoring it.

    The current situation has significantly impacted my ability to use my computer effectively, and consequently, my work performance has suffered. Despite owning a brand-new, high-specification computer, it now feels unusable.

    This issue demands serious action from the user community, but I am uncertain about the appropriate steps to take. I am really thinking of stopping using Microsoft windows and starting using any other OS.

    Hi,

    I have done all steps you mentioned and the problem is still the same: Since I installed 24H2 update, everything lags when launching, even a simple task like File Explorer.

    Have same issues , new I9 32GB ram , was working very fast before, now since this update even mouse pointer lags. Tried to go back to pervious version but it was not possible. 24H2 even changed my backupWindows recovery option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am now using my old PC with Windows 10 searching how to fixmy newer gaming PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi all,

    I had exactly the same problem.

    After updating Legion T5 S5005ARP with Windows11 24H2, my machine was ready after more than 200seconds,

    while with 23H2 it was less than 100 seconds.
    Lenovo and MS indicated that ALL drivers were up to date.

    Finally, after restoring to 23H2, boot is again ready in 100 seconds.

    QUESTION: Would it be related to MS activating Bitlocker in 24H2 as mentionned in the release notes?
    Since MS released an installation ISO for Win11 for "elder" PCS, i installed Win11 on an HP Pavilion with an Intel Core i5 as a test.
    Installation went fine, even discovered my previous Win10 activation key.
    Just after boot, i found that disks were starting to be encrypted with bitlocker, which they weren't under Win10.

    Took me some time to disable Bitlocker and find the keys 😡😡

    Then "old guy" is running fine Win11...

    Would this be the cause of SLOWINESS in Win11 24H2 as encryption is taking lot of CPU?

    Just wonder?
