24H2 crashing games - working on a fix?

It seems to be a known issue but seeing as there are no fixes yet, maybe you need more people to bring up the problem.

Ever since the 24H2 update, games have been freezing up the entire computer, forcing a hard-reboot with no other solutions.

And yes, I've tried re-installing/updating graphics driver, and pretty much every solution offered so far with no avail (some mention turning off Auto-HDR, some mention disabling multi-threading options in-game, etc.).

The only solution on specific game, POE2, that has worked is playing it on DirectX11 instead of DirectX12.

Apparently the issue is easily resolved by rolling back to 23H2, but instead of the users having to resort to finding a way to downgrade their updates, is there a fix coming from Windows any time soon?

    OK. One IMPORTANT update! If you update to 24H2, MAKE SURE to go to "Create a Restore Point" >> Configure >> Restore Settings >> Click "Turn on System Protection." If you don’t, you won’t be able to use System Restore in the future. For some reason, the update disabled "system protection" for me.

    When Windows performs a major update like 24H2, it typically removes all your previous restore points. (That’s normal, as I understand it; you generally don’t want to mix a new major update with another old version). Don't Panic - Even though the previous restore points are gone, the GoBack still works)

    0 crashes since going back to windows 10..all these not working answers are pointless, users tried everything except the obvious- use windows 10. Games are stable

    I had installed this update back in December and faced major issues with my streaming software OBS, discord, some games and Edge. I rolled it back and everything worked as it should. Fast forward to February 21 when this update was forced on me AGAIN, i cannot stream a full session without crashing due to memory leaks. I looked in my event viewer to see memory errors and they all started on the day this update was installed. Coincidence? I think not.

    To be clear, my pc is less than a year old and has lots of disk space, memory and processing power. It was never an issue until this update came.

    Please fix this already, i can't roll back now and it's extremely frustrating. At this point i am considering wiping my OS and going back to windows 10.

    They finally fixed it. March 17 ,2025. At least it works on my rig. See my reply post of March 18 2025
