24H2 crashing games - working on a fix?

It seems to be a known issue but seeing as there are no fixes yet, maybe you need more people to bring up the problem.

Ever since the 24H2 update, games have been freezing up the entire computer, forcing a hard-reboot with no other solutions.

And yes, I've tried re-installing/updating graphics driver, and pretty much every solution offered so far with no avail (some mention turning off Auto-HDR, some mention disabling multi-threading options in-game, etc.).

The only solution on specific game, POE2, that has worked is playing it on DirectX11 instead of DirectX12.

Apparently the issue is easily resolved by rolling back to 23H2, but instead of the users having to resort to finding a way to downgrade their updates, is there a fix coming from Windows any time soon?

    Great news, everyone! I found a temporary solution to these issues, and it worked for me. Please check out the videos below, as following the steps helped resolve the problem: (Please follow the steps mentioned in the youtube videos mentioned below).
    Also In my opinion, another potential fix is to boot into Safe Mode, uninstall all NVIDIA updates, and then restart your PC. After that, avoid reinstalling any NVIDIA drivers. This method worked for me, and I've been able to play games like Valorant, PUBG PC, CS:GO, and Death Stranding with only minor fluctuations, but no BSODs or crashes. Hopefully, this works for you too!

    This is just a temporary fix, though, and I really hope Windows addresses these issues with a more permanent update soon.

    Uninstalling Nvidia drivers is one of the first thing I did. Sounds too technical and too cumbersome and hope based. It would take several hours to back everything up reinstall windows resin tall steam reinstall a few games and see it crash again. Mine was a days old windows pro installation anyway, I will stick to windows 10 pro for now and a few years. Now I also learned that modifying registry can mess any given windows version compelling a new clean install, to update . Not always but anyhow.

    Tested This?
    I have deactivated all Win 11 gaming improvements.

    That means:

    Win key + X > System > Play/Games Gamemode >Graphics > Advanced

    Below: Advanced graphics settings > Deactivate hardware accelerated GPU planning

    It helped me in Diablo Immortal

    I had no problems with 24H4 in other games

    You should then restart your PC

    Hope that helps you too!

    Caution: If hardware accelerated GPU planning has been deactivated, it no longer works in new games for Nvidia frame generation DLSS and for AMD FSR!

    Microsoft is about due for a class action lawsuit. Their terms of service have a rather large loophole opening themselves to financial compensation for wrecking $5,000$ personal computers, since they are forcing their untested updates on us and crashing our computers.
