24H2 crashing games - working on a fix?

Yesterday March 17, 2025 - I received a notice that my computer needed to restart to finish installing 24H2! Yikes! BUT it seems to be finally fixed for my system.

I didn't know that I could have stopped the update by changing my settings to pause Windows again, so I just rebooted, and although I had a few issues that were fixed easily. It appears to working great. I am not sure if it is the 24H2 update or not, but my games are playing smooth as silk on 24H2 !

Background

I tried to update to 24H2 on November 24 and lost COD and Fortnite. Both would just freeze up during play. I also lost a few other items, like Acrobat Reader and the Fusion 360 Cad program. Fortunately, I discovered the "go back" option, and quickly, it took me back to a working compute on 23H2

After reading about the 24H2 bug here and elsewhere, I decided to try again in February 2025. The results were the same, with crashes and black screens. I quickly used the "Go Back" option to get my computer running again. Then, I paused Windows Update for five weeks. Yesterday was March 17, 2025. When I opened my computer, it was still on winter 23H2. I had turned off Windows updates for as long as possible, so I was about to reset it again, but this time I received a notice that my computer needed to restart to finish installing 24H2! Yikes! I didn't know I could have stopped the update by changing my settings to pause Windows again, so I just rebooted, and sure enough, about two hours later, my machine was up and running on 24H2. Yikes! (I found out that you have 10 days to use the Go Back option if you encounter any issues, so I started checking all the problems I had. I ran into no issues with COD BO6 or Fortnite. I couldn't use Acrobat Reader, but I discovered that changing it to run as Windows 8 allowed it to work. My CAD software works fine. The only issue I encountered was that the MakerBot Desktop software I use for my 3D printer was completely unresponsive. But I simply reinstalled the software, and it's up and running now. Overall, everything seems to be working well today! I will update if I have any issues. So far, on the first day of 24H2, all is well!

It's now March and still this is happening. There is not one single game I have that works anymore because of this. Like many others, I'm way past the 10 day mark to revert back and I was way past that time when this first started happening. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to be a play tester for a game when MICROSOFT is the reason the game keeps crashing??? I know Microsoft doesn't give a rats behind about its users, all they care about is making money off of us. Seriously, this is beyond ridiculous and expecting people to alter everything on their computer or go to computer classes just to figure out how to fix your dumb mistakes is even worse. Do something about this NOW!

Still having this issue as well. Discord half-freezes randomly, games will just completely freeze and crash if I tab out, nothing looks wrong performance wise. Reinstalled my drivers and disabled all the hardware accel stuff that I could. What is Microsoft doing??? It won't even allow me to roll back anymore, I'm genuinely going to switch my OS soon if they're incapable of making a functional one.
