Whatsapp callers suddenly hear echo on their end only

After working fine for a couple of years, now whatsapp desktop is a problem - but not for me, for the person on the other end, who hears a full echo of everything they say.

I don't hear any echo. And, when I try the same call on my mobile instead of desktop, no problem.

This is recent, only the past 10 days or so.

I am experiencing the same problem. Where can I vote to prioritize this issue ?

I am using a speaker.

The problem goes away if I use headphones.

It does not happen with Microsoft Teams.

I have partialy solved with Voicemeeter noise gate on the mic channel and a conference Audio Volume set to -6 dB vs standard application volume

My Audio configuration is based on Realtek HD integrated Audio for Speaker, Zoom U-22 Audio Interface for MIC and Voicemeeter Potato (Multi Channel Mixer, effects and Control).

I have the same issue.

If Install an old version (December 2024) the problem go away but WhatsApp update it in few ours.

In the last WA version, If I close Voicemeeter Potato and Configure default Audio Output on Realtek and Input on Zoom U-22 devices all run fine.

I don't like this solution but it indicate some problem in WA's Echo Cancelling in a multichannel configuration like Voicemeeter Potato. I hope this can help to find a solution. I have tried a lot but no luck

Subject: Audio Feedback/Echo Issue on WhatsApp for Windows – Ongoing Problem After Updates

As previously reported, I’m still experiencing the audio feedback/echo issue when using WhatsApp on my PC, which started after updating to Version 2.2502.3.0. The remote contact hears an echo, which wasn’t a problem before the update.

I initially had some success by rolling back to Version 2.2447.5.0 (from Dec 6th, 2024), which resolved the issue temporarily. However, WhatsApp now flags that version as expired and forces an update to the latest version.

I’ve reported this to WhatsApp a couple of times, but unfortunately, they’ve closed the tickets without providing any useful guidance. It appears this issue may be related to incompatibility between recent updates and certain Windows setups, as everything works fine on my other Windows devices.

I’ve also tried the newly released Version 2.2509.4.0, but sadly, the issue persists.

For now, I’ve resorted to using Zoom on my PC as a temporary workaround, but I’d much prefer to resolve this problem with WhatsApp.

Has anyone found a solution or an effective workaround? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
