I just bought this computer less than 2 weeks ago and some updates have downloaded and installed but this one will not. the update I'm having problems with is 2025-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050009)

    I uninstalled Norton.
    Retried the download of the Wundows-update, but the download never exceeded 37%, before restarting downloading.
    So: Norton is not the issue preventing the Windows Update Installation.

    What surprises me: so many people having the same problem, but I have not heared anything from Microsoft, yet...

    Slightly more baffling.

    2025-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050009) successfully installed on 15/01/2025, but the installation has repeated every day since and (unsurprisingly) failed. The same error code - 0x800f081f

    HP Notebook if that helps.

    Same here. I thought the issue was fixed and now the update installation is trying again and has been stuck at 0% since yesterday.
