Why is Task Host stopping my PC from shutting down?

Whenever I shut PC down it says I have one app open and need to shut it down first. There is no apps open. The message also mentions the Task Host stopping the shut down.

This doesn't work. The solution I found that worked was the hard shutdown. Just hold the power button down until your computer turns off. Did this and I haven't had the issue since. Will update if it reoccurs.

I will try that, thank you. I wish it would go away...

I wondered why my laptop wasn't shutting down... I'd click all the shutdown buttons and walk away.... imagine the power wasted while it sat there hours just waiting to be told cancel or shutdown anyway...

Hi,

I am familiar with doing this when everything is frozen and non respponsive - but not when everything is responding, which is the case with the problem I'm having, and lots of others.

Do you (either of you - NickPTurner or Susan DeLorme) know if the options - and potential risk trying that option - are the same with a Microsoft Surface compared to with a PC please?

I'm having the same problem and also nothing happens for me when I click I can't download an update. The task wheel just spins indefinitely.

is there really no solution to this? the issue starts today and it's driving me crazy cause nothing is working. the live chat is just a never ending loading button
