Whenever I shut PC down it says I have one app open and need to shut it down first. There is no apps open. The message also mentions the Task Host stopping the shut down.

I also tried Mr. Doyons excellent guidance step by step, and I too was told it couldn't help me, to contact an agent. But I noticed further down the Get Help page one piece of advice was to clear the Windows Update cache. And, yay!, that seems to have fixed it for me.

My Task Host problem has now gone and it may or may not be linked to the change I made yesterday when I turned my Memory Integrity on. For some reason it had been off.
Windows Security – Device Security – Core Isolation – Memory Integrity. I had to restart my PC, which took ages (about an hour) but it was worth it. On restarting, Windows Updates started working again, albeit slowly. At the moment, things are more or less back to how it was before Task Host began playing up.
I ended up doing a manual shutdown of my laptop. It had locked up when I tried to restart. Since then, the problem has disappeared. I'm not saying it will work for everyone, and it may be just temporary, but it seems to have worked for me.
Windows 11 is up to date, and this problem persists.
