title. it's always taking 200-300 mb of memory.

I tried:

disable windows security, got hit with this setting is managed by your (non existent) administrator

end task, got access is denies

command prompt things, did nothing

edit group policy, did nothing

enable disableantispyware in regedit, got hit with access is denied

tried to give myself permission to enable disableantispyware, access is denied

in case I missed any, I basically tried everything you can find online. no matter what I do, either nothing happens, access is denied or this setting is managed by your administrator

I'm about to flip this is my computer, I should get to choose what to do. I am the administrator and only user

Glad to hear that. Since Defender ATP is still onboarded, a reset might be the best option.

You may also parallel post this issue in the Microsoft Q&A since this issue might involve Defender Endpoint.

The policy settings are reapplied because the device seems onboarded.

Hi, I found another update and now things seem to be working again. The this setting is managed by admin still isn't fixed but I don't know if I still want to try if I risk breaking my computer

These two commands from admin Command Prompt will restore the Defender ATP service from the backup.

    reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sense" /f

    reg restore "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sense" C:\Sense.bak

Admin Command Prompt can be launched via Task Manager.

Also, did you backup the registry using RegBak?
