Well! Thank you for pointing that out! It got me out of my funk and toward a resolution that doesn't include Outlook!!
I appreciate the article very much.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Everything was working fine until I saw the update finish.
There have been no other changes.
IMAP, SMTP and password info are correct.
charter.net doesn't recognize the Outlook (New) login attempt.
NOTE: This is a Windows 11 PC (4 months old). I can't, nor do I want to, go back to Outlook "Classic".
I can login to my charter account and see my email (only). I have additional family accounts in Outlook (New).
I am afraid of losing data (For a third time) because of this updated ***** program.
Any suggestions?

The top mail app on apple macOS and apple iOS/iPadOS devices is also outlook so not sure how this is the most cost effective way to snub msft. Easier and more cost effective option would be install These are the best Mail app alternatives for your Windows PC > #1 spark .
Thank you for your interest. I spent hours on chat with Microsoft support and went through every gyration to no avail. Spectrum shows the settings for accessing email and Outlook just doesn't do it. I tried using the old Outlook and was so excited but alas, no messages could be sent. Then spent hours trying to get New Outlook back where at least I am familiar with the formatting. I am very disappointed in Microsoft for this. Thinking a switch to Apple is the way to go.
microsoft would be expected to prioritize fixing this imap mail service connection issue in outlook (new) given the number of consumer mail service providers that use imap as the way to enable native desktop/mobile app access. if the interim solution of using pop3 instead of imap for outlook (new) connection or using help > go to outlook (classic) app instead or some other mail app from store isn't acceptable then yes just resorting to use of the consumer email service providers web UI for accessing email is one interim alternative.
I must be a pariah.
We started receiving emails again, then they updated the app.
We were still getting emails when I tried to send one.
Outlook, not the provider, said, "I wasn't authorized".
It started making me login for everything, over and over.
Finally, it quit getting emails.
I un-installed it and resigned myself (like so many others) to using my providers email system.
Who knows, maybe MS will fix this some year.
