After the 4 Feb 2025 update, Outlook New can't connect to my email provider

Everything was working fine until I saw the update finish.

There have been no other changes.

IMAP, SMTP and password info are correct.

charter.net doesn't recognize the Outlook (New) login attempt.

NOTE: This is a Windows 11 PC (4 months old). I can't, nor do I want to, go back to Outlook "Classic".

I can login to my charter account and see my email (only). I have additional family accounts in Outlook (New).

I am afraid of losing data (For a third time) because of this updated ***** program.

Any suggestions?

Well it's going on over a month now, maybe even two and still nothing has changed. At this point I've pretty much given up and only use New Outlook to send emails and my phone to receive. The weird thing is I still receive emails through New Outlook but they're around 4 or 5 days behind, so today 3/31 I received emails from 2/25. That makes no sense. It's really disappointing that after all this time nothing's been fixed and nothing's been announced as far as what the heck the problem is. Just keep us all in the dark, great way to run a business. I used to be a 100% Microsoft fan but after this nonsense I'm no longer in that camp. This has really screwed up my business.

Agree. I bought a new laptop a few montsh ago and was given new Outlook. It is useless. It can't attach an email to either a new mail or a calendar event

But this weekend 8/9 Feb some sort of update occured on my phone version, as "categories" appeared, so they did something. But on my laptop I cannot receive or send emails and Microsoft support have been useless in helping me sort it

All protocols linking my outlook to my email provider are there and unchanged, so what is the problem? Do I have to update the laptop and if so, how?

Two days ago, same issue started for me. I'm using Outlook for Mac. System is updated, app is updated. All settings are correct. Two out of three email accounts update. The one that does not still updates on my phone. I've tried everything I can think of. Nothing makes a difference.

    > There have been no Feb critical updates here

The updates that Microsoft releases are either:

    • the second Tuesday of each month, at 10 AM Pacific. So, that will be next week: February 11, 2025.
    • out-of-band updates -- when there is a "critical" event, namely a "zero-day" exploit that has been found to be "in the wild" and affecting users of Windows. Microsoft may choose to release this "non-scheduled" update, to protect their users.

    What update?

There have been no Feb critical updates here

Is this with the Win11 Mail app? as an IMAP mail account doesnt use any settings in its setup.

And if IMAP no data is on the local device its all on the server so you cannot lose anything other than Contact/Calander, which are in local folders marked 'This PC only' and are lost if the email account is reset.

In the mail app Settings> About shows version(s)
