Hi all,

Getting Error on around 40 devices for Windows Updates: Installing Feb 2025 Security Update Win 10 64 bit (KB5051974)

We have 1000 devices total and it only seems to be occurring on around 40 of them, but its the same problem on each.

Windows Update forces restart and then after booting back up it says cannot complete update, reverting changes.

Have tried SFC Scannow / DISM Repairs but same issue repeatedly occurs. Also tried manually completing the updates by downloading from the catalog but same error occurs there.

Error Code Showing in Windows Update is : 0x800f0922

Any help would be appreciated.

    Ok. Something is preventing write access to the EFI partition. It's a FAT32 partition. So, the NTFS permissions won't apply. I wonder what's locking that partition.

    From the admin Command Prompt, please run:

    FLTMC

reagentc /info

bcdedit

diskpart

list vol

exit

    Post the output.

    Can you please verify if you're running commands from admin Command Prompt?

    Tried those commands in CMD and get those access denied errors:

    I did find a MS page with the same fix being listed and was getting the same access denied error on another machine with the same problem. I tried giving myself access to the drive but was unable to.

    Hi Haydar,

    Please see if you can delete .ttf files from the EFI partition. This is to test if you're getting an access denied error when writing to the EFI partition.

    Open an admin Command Prompt window (instead of PowerShell) and run these commands:

    mountvol Y: /s

    cd /d Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Fonts

    del *.ttf

    Post the output here.
