Windows Security Update Error Feb 2025 : 0x800f0922

Hi all,

Getting Error on around 40 devices for Windows Updates: Installing Feb 2025 Security Update Win 10 64 bit (KB5051974)

We have 1000 devices total and it only seems to be occurring on around 40 of them, but its the same problem on each.

Windows Update forces restart and then after booting back up it says cannot complete update, reverting changes.

Have tried SFC Scannow / DISM Repairs but same issue repeatedly occurs. Also tried manually completing the updates by downloading from the catalog but same error occurs there.

Error Code Showing in Windows Update is : 0x800f0922

Any help would be appreciated.

    Addendum:

    Since this issue occurs on many systems, it could be due to a driver (e.g., Storage driver). Something locks the EFI partition exclusively, making it inaccessible after Windows is loaded.

    Boot into WinRE using USB.

    Type the Bitlocker recovery key when prompted.

    In WinRE Command Prompt, assign letter Y for the EFI partition. No need to format it again.

    Run the bcdboot command.

    OK - We can try that, So restart first? Then go back with the USB, into admin cmd and make sure bitlocker is turned off, then try the commands again?

    After getting access to the C drive in WinRE, we need to assign the drive letter Y for the EFI partition and then run the bcdboot command (mentioned earlier) to copy the boot files to the EFI partition. Once done, you can start Windows.

    If Bitlocker is enabled, it says "BitLocker Encrypted" in Disk Management.
