2025-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5051974) (2)

Failed to install on Mon-Mar-03-2025 - 0x80070002

Either KB5050593 or KB5050188 currupted my ability to edit txt and bat files.

2025-01 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 (KB5050593) Successfully installed on Mon-Mar-03-2025

One of these currupted my edit txt and bat command

Successfully installed on Mon-Mar-03-2025

I tried all the work arounds and that didn't work.

    Please download Acelogix Regbak and backup the registry.

    Then, do the following:

    • Download cbsfix.reg and save it to a folder on the C drive -- e.g., C:\Fixes
    • Download AdvancedRun (64-bit) from Nirsoft and run it.
    • Using AdvancedRun, launch c:\windows\regedit.exe as TrustedInstaller (see Screenshot)
    • In the Regedit window, click File, and click Import...
    • Dismiss the "Location is not available" message box by clicking OK.
    • In the "Import Registry File" window, in the "File name" text box, type C:\Fixes\cbsfix.reg and press Enter.
    • After the import is successful, exit Regedit.

    Ok done.

    But yesterday I was able to edit files but today before I did this I lost it. Should I do system restore and try again?

    It seems to be KB5053606 update even though it fails to install that's causing me to lose edit control.

    Run "dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth". After it completes, attach "c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log" on OneDrive.

    1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro of Sysnative forums) and save this to your Desktop.

    1. Download the file, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.

     

    1. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.  [See illustration image: https://imgur.com/a/7i4Y8g8]

     

    1. When you see the prompt "Will you allow SFCFix to communicate with Sysnative servers?",  type "n" for no. Press Enter to continue.

     

    1. SFCFix will now process the script. It will take some time to complete. Upload the output file SFCFix.txt to your OneDrive.

     

    1. Restart Windows and attempt to install updates.

     

    (Will post the remaining fix after seeing the above log.)
