Hi Ramesh;

I need to know how to delete a prior File History configuration. I messed up when doing this first time. Long story, but how to remove the old configuration so it does not pop up every time I need to choose a network drive. I have two configurations and and the very first one that does not work as Windows says "the path is unknown".

There should be a delete option when the configuration is highlighted, but there is no such thing.

Can you help - or do I need to open a new case?

In that case, the Macrium Rescue media will be needed. You should be able to access the NAS from the rescue media, and this documentation should help.

I'm not sure if the settings are the same in ReflectX (the latest version, which is subscription-based). I'm using the grandfathered edition, I think v8.x (free).

The backup images look like this. The larger ones are full backups, and the smaller ones are incremental backups. I'm retaining the full backups for 12 weeks, just in case. That's why a lot of backup images in that folder.

You can put them in a folder on your USB disk and access them from the Macrium Rescue WinPE environment.

The NAS I am about to build is a Synology NAS. Realtek Processorseries. Model RTD1619B, 1,7GHz

I will build in a 960GB SSD Disk supported by Synology. I still need the D-Frame to finish the job.

AI understand the purpose of making File History store the files and folders here for backup. But The Macrium Reflect I need to know more about as the NAS unit will be on our wireless network. I am an old Norton Ghost fan and I wonder how Macrium Reflect will be able to restore a system disk image on the computer if Windows is heavily damaged and can't be accessed.
Anyway I will need to read more about Macrium when the NAS is up running.

Hi Anders,

The external SSD can be used for Macrium backups for both systems. On the SSD drive, create separate folders for each system.

The NAS would also be a nice option for backing up two or more systems. If it will be powered on 24/7, build the NAS with an ultra-low-power CPU like Intel N100 (or specific Celeron models) with 8 or 16 GB of RAM. You can use it for File History and Macrium Image backups. If you're building your own NAS, consider TrueNAS (free) and set it up with the RAID configuration.

Maybe you can have one copy on the NAS and the mirror copy in your external SSD.
