Need help upgrading to Windows 11 pro 24H2 form 23H2 0xc1900101 error

I have been trying to upgrade my PC Windows 11 Pro from 23H2 (build 22631.5262) to 24H2 for several months. The upgrade downloads but always fails with the 0xc1900101 error.

My pc meets all of the hardware requirements as per the Microsoft PC Health Check App. My system uses a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H470M DS3H -CF mother board, 2.90 gigahertz Intel Core i5-10400- 64 bit, 1.09 TB HDD, drive 0 15.85 Gigabytes Usable Memory, c: (NTFS on drive 0) , 1.09 TB 855.87 GB free. UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. F4 08/28/2020. All of the security update have been installed. All of the drivers have been updated. Memory integrity is on and there are no drivers listed in the vulnerable driver blocklist.

I disconnect the pc from the Internet/Router before running the update. Disconnected the old scanner and deleted the drivers and programs. Removed the Logitec 300 camera and deleted all of the drivers. Run the update troubleshooter. Run FSC and DISM. Reset Windows update components, all several times.

I have looked at C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther and opened setupact.log or setuperr.log to see where the update fails, but do not understand what I am looking for the failure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Ramesh,

    I flashed the BIOS. Ran chkdsk /r no errors. Ran mdsched.exe but it did not return any results. I looked in the event viewer but only found this

    The search was for "MemoryDiagnostics-Results". The search showed the test started but no results. There were no results shown when I logged back into the PC.

    I am ready to do a clean boot. After the PC does that, what should I look for. Or, should I just do the steps from the downloaded iso?

    Hi Lewis,

    If 24H2 is no longer available in Windows Update, please follow these steps (after completing the earlier suggestions) for an in-place upgrade using the ISO.

    1. Download Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) from this link:

    1. Run MCT and download the ISO it recommends for your system. Do *not* uncheck "Use the recommended options for this PC".
    2. Right-click on the downloaded ISO and choose "Mount." This assigns the ISO a drive letter.
    3. Run setup.exe from the ISO drive. This starts the in-place upgrade/repair installation.
    4. This starts the setup dialog. In the initial screen, click “Change how Setup downloads updates”
    5. Select “Not right now”, and continue the process.

    (Your files, settings and applications will be preserved if you use the ISO recommended for your system by the Media Creation Tool.)

    Thanks for the reply. One thing I have noticed is that the 24H2 update has only been offered about once a month. If I manually check for updates, the 24H2 update is not always found.

    I will try all your suggestions today.

    Hi Lewis,

    The Svchost.exe and four other processes seem to have crashed during the setup.

    After uninstalling EaseUS and Malwarebytes, please apply the BIOS update and perform a clean boot of Windows.

    Re-run the setup. If it doesn't succeed, share the latest set of logs.
