Need help upgrading to Windows 11 pro 24H2 form 23H2 0xc1900101 error

I have been trying to upgrade my PC Windows 11 Pro from 23H2 (build 22631.5262) to 24H2 for several months. The upgrade downloads but always fails with the 0xc1900101 error.

My pc meets all of the hardware requirements as per the Microsoft PC Health Check App. My system uses a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H470M DS3H -CF mother board, 2.90 gigahertz Intel Core i5-10400- 64 bit, 1.09 TB HDD, drive 0 15.85 Gigabytes Usable Memory, c: (NTFS on drive 0) , 1.09 TB 855.87 GB free. UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. F4 08/28/2020. All of the security update have been installed. All of the drivers have been updated. Memory integrity is on and there are no drivers listed in the vulnerable driver blocklist.

I disconnect the pc from the Internet/Router before running the update. Disconnected the old scanner and deleted the drivers and programs. Removed the Logitec 300 camera and deleted all of the drivers. Run the update troubleshooter. Run FSC and DISM. Reset Windows update components, all several times.

I have looked at C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther and opened setupact.log or setuperr.log to see where the update fails, but do not understand what I am looking for the failure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I'm going to just stick with 23H2 until October and then do a clean install. I have gone through several iterations of Windows on this hard drive and think a major cleanup is in order.

    Ok. In that case, to block the 24H2 update installation attempt via Windows Update, you can use the registry or InControl to stay on 23H2.

    It applies the TargetReleaseVersionInfo GPO. The tool can then be deleted.

    In Microsoftanswers threads the Windows tool WDV is used multiple times per day. You can at any time open a new thread and ask for guidance on how to use the tool and have a member debug the results.

    And in Microsoftanswers event viewer system and application events are frequently used for troubleshooting.

    The V2 log collector will collect many useful files for troubleshooting.

    The scripts were created to find files and make it easy for members to include the applicable logs for troubleshooting.

    There were Logitech, Realtech, and other drivers that may be the culprit. Running WDV followed by memory integrity could find a problematic driver or eliminate drivers as a cause of the upgrade failure.

    I did not want you to think I was ignoring your posts. As a very old Navy aviation electronics person, I learned to follow one line of troubleshooting through to the end.

    I'm going to just stick with 23H2 until October and then do a clean install. I have gone through several iterations of Windows on this hard drive and think a major cleanup is in order.

    Thanks for the heads up on the windows backup utility. I will change over to my EaseUS program.

    I did the Logitech hub and Google drive but the results were the same.

    I'm going to just stick with 23H2 until October and then do a clean install. I have gone through several iterations of Windows on this hard drive and think a major cleanup is in order.

    I did use the Windows backup/restore option to make a system image before we started.

    Will try the Logitech idea. If that doesn't work, I'll live with 23H2 until it is not supported.

    Hi Lewis,

    Are you referring to the built-in Backup tool in the classic Control Panel? If so, it's unreliable, and actually, Microsoft has deprecated it.

    Remove Google Drive and Logitech G-Hub as well.
