Win10, Right click on pinned programs in Start Menu no longer have file list

I'm pretty sure this occured after the latest update (which is actually four updates). I removed all four updates and the right click latest file function is still not there.

The update was: March 25, 2025-KB5055063 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 - Microsoft Support

The first update removed as listed is KB5054978. I lost track of the other 3 updates installed at the same time.

THIS IS THE EXACT MAIN REASON I WOULDN'T GO TO WINDOWS 11!!!! I'll be glad when there are no more win10 updates!

How do I get this right click function back? Below is the menu I get when I now right click on a pinned start menu, program:

    You can also do the same thing using the Win 10 installer: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    Whichever seems easier to you.

    Once the installer has finished, go to Settings =>Advanced Windows Update Options and block updates for as long as possible. With luck, this will get fixed within that period.

    You have two options to fix it:

    • The easiest and quickest: Pin the icons of your most-used apps to the taskbar and you'll be able to use the jumplists again. In 2-3 days, you'll get used to using them there.
    • The slowest: Download the Windows 10 22H2 ISO, mount it by double-clicking it, DISCONNECT from the INTERNET, and run Setup. Windows will install itself without deleting any apps or personal files. When the installation is complete, block updates for the maximum period (35 days) and reconnect to the Internet.

    I'm sorry you can't recover a backup.

    I restored my Acronis backup from March 2025 and stopped all updates. I've even hacked them in the registry until 2026.

    When May 13, 2025, arrives, I'll back up with Acronis, click the "Check for Updates" button, install the May 2025 updates, and test the jumplists to see if they're fixed.

    If they're not fixed, I'll restore the newly created backup and continue with the blocked updates.

    I wish I could use your advice. I don't regularly backup the system files. Just my data.

    I have tried a few things like turning off the jumplist option (taskbar settings ==> Start), rebooting. Then turning back on this setting and checking then rebooting. This just cleared the jumplist within the program/app itself :/

    If it's not resolved by say September, I may have to restore the system. Then let it do the updates until those from March 1st or so.

    At the end of the Windows update pause period, the jumplists fail even without installing updates. We must pause to the fullest:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings

    PauseUpdatesExpiryTime

    Change the year for example. Then, in Advanced Options, now allows you to choose later dates. Change it so that the pause is configured internally as well.
