Win10, Right click on pinned programs in Start Menu no longer have file list

Wow, that's quite an extensive list of updates that don't seem to cause the jumplist problem if installed manually.

I've been out of the hardware design and IT field for over 10 years and I'm now just a general user. I don't keep regular system backups nor was I aware of the IoT versions. I do see that Dell is a distributor of the IoT version and all of my remaining laptops are Dell; so ????

I find it interesting that another user only had the KB5055518 update and uninstalling that solved the problem. I had more combined updates then that. I can't get back to the jumplist working from the Startup menu at this moment :/

I believe that solution (someone described that the jump lists still work when the app is pinned to the taskbar) works in Win11 too. My taskbar fills up quickly so that option isn't useful for me either. Thanks for the information though!

When I went to upvote the problem in the Feedback Hub (I found 2), someone described that the jump lists still work when the app is pinned to the taskbar. I don't pin apps to the taskbar, so I hadn't noticed that. I will use that as a work-around.

The updates installed since April 8, 2025 are:

• KB5055518 cumulative, catalog, uninstallable security, manual jumplist OK
• KB5054978 uninstallable, Framework catalog, preview, manual jumplist OK
  (KB5055683 cumulative Framework, catalog 4.8.1 and download the previous one)
• KB2267602 Defender Security Intelligence, auto-installed even with paused updates, jumplist OK.
• Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.5676, auto-installed even with paused updates, jumplist OK.
• Intel System 2452.7.1.0, catalog, Intel Management Engine Interface in Device Manager. Previous 2354.
• KB5057589 security recovery environment, uninstallable

1. I restored my backup to March 12, 2025, after the March 2025 updates.
2. I manually downloaded all the updates from the Microsoft catalog except for the latest one from the recovery environment, which I can't find.
3. After manually installing the updates, the jumplists continue to work after a reboot.
4. The problem is deeper and is due to something going wrong during the search for updates, not during their installation.

I'm currently working with updates that have been paused since March 12, 2025. I don't mind much.

What a coincidence that there are exactly six months left (October 2025) until all Windows 10 updates disappear and support ends.

I've already prepared Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 21H2 with security updates through January 13, 2032, for when October 2025 arrives.

In my case KB5055518 was the only update that ran that night according to the update log. I am 100% sure that the feature worked before the update since I use it daily. I noticed it non-functional as soon as I started work and went to open an Excel file that was pinned to the Excel app.
