Feeds / Search application using all of the ram

I had this problem too and at least for me it seems to be some sort of memory leak involving the news and interests segment of the task bar. (The thing that shows you the weather and news) As soon as I clicked on it I saw my memory usage steadily climb without stopping, as soon as I turned it off my memory usage went back to normal.

I have not installed the KB5010415 cumulative update preview and do not have any 3rd party or protected software

I run an intel 5820k Processor and an Asus RTX 3070ti gpu with the most current drivers.

My OS is Windows 10 home 64 bit.

Well i was also able to end it using the task manager tool. I have no idea what happened and how it happened just like you. But when the incident happened
my browser didn't crash. But instead my graphics driver did. I had to manually go to the device manager and enable it again. I have no idea how it crashed since the computer is just some months old. This incident happened around 3 days after installing the new windows update.

I had the same problem. Tasks-Feeds -> Search applikation

eating up memory after update tox.1566.

Solved since 220219 before KB4023057 came in

THIS is what I did:

1. Kill Search apllication in Taskmanager
2. Settings - Memory - Tempory Files - (CLEAN UP Updates and ...)
3. Clean MS-Edge Browser (Settings - History and Cookies)

or use a cleaner app ( like ccleaner 5,90 , attention - use only when know to handle the app and its settings

i.E. --> Custom Clean for halting (stop) MS-Edge to be cleaned), Cookies , old IE and System Restore

Same thing has been happening to me intermittently, Using up about 13gb out of my 16gb. I don't even know or care what feeds does, I wish there was a way to disable it completely.

Same issue here. Glad I stumbled over this.

Noticed my machine is slow when it shouldn't be (not running anything resource intensive)

I immediately shut down all my open applications and it still felt slow.

Upon checking the active processes and their resource usage I saw this "feeds" thing eating up 100% of my cpu, ram and even my 3080! That gpu never goes over 20%

I obviously forced it shut in a heartbeat so I do not have a screenshot.

Yesterday it was perfectly normal.

My machine was completely off up until 30 minutes of writing this post.

Turned it on and resource usage was through the roof - didn't take long to realize something was wrong.

Almost blew up my CPU - you can't treat an old lady like that and expect her not to die of a heart attack :(

Can anyone explain to me it's purpose?

Is it what it sounds like? Some app pulling in news feeds so they can pop up out of the taskbar ui?

 If that's the case, how can I permanently delete any and all files related to it? 

ps. whoever pitched this idea and whoever bought into it -- just.... I have very few words for you.

Not much would get me to switch off of MS products since they're essential for work.

But this idea right here, this might be the reason I switch my personal machine to Linux.
