Feeds / Search application using all of the ram

I noticed that the PC started running slow today and opened task manager to see that System, Feeds (Search application) is using CPU and Disk quite heavily and as much ram that it can to pin it to 100%.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Update: Windows crashed and i restarted, same application started to ramp up again so i ended it.

Looking into events now.

I just (like 5 minutes ago) experienced the same thing. It's a pretty fresh PC and I only use it to game, so it was extremely weird for this to happen. Only thing that changed this past few days was me installing the Microsoft Defender update.

Looks like it could potentially be tied to AMD. I'm running:

    AMD 5600X

    16 GB RAM

    Nvidia 3080

    Had this same issue.

This is the second time but luckily its been about a month or so.

I thought turning the Feeds update to lower helped but guess not I've turned it off entirely now.

    AMD 5600X

    32 GB ram

    Nvidia 3070

    Latest Nvidia driver installed

    21H2 just updated with KB5011487

Seems to be okay now. I cant even see that process in task manager.

Ending the SearchApp task has quietened everything down for now - fingers crossed but I'm not feeling too optimistic!

I've checked my updates too, only one thing updated today (related to Defender Antivirus) and the same cumulative update as you JimmahChongah ( KB5010342) yesterday. Which includes something about the News and Interests feed - is that what Feeds is, which includes the problematic SearchApp? I have no idea with this stuff.

I am in the same situation as you and I also closed the process in the task manager... has it happened again to anyone?

My concern is that it is a virus but being from Microsoft nothing will tell
